When Chip and Leslie decided to elope, they sought a unique and intimate experience for their second marriage. With its enchanting canals and rich history, Venice, Italy, provided the perfect backdrop for their dream Venice luxury elopement.
How They Met and the Proposal
Chip and Leslie’s love story began when a mutual coworker played matchmaker, confidently telling them they had found the perfect person to meet. This simple act of kindness blossomed into a beautiful relationship that culminated in a heartwarming proposal.
The proposal involved all four children at their Christmas family get-together. Each child had a special role: Leslie’s daughter led her out of the house with a little white lie, Chip’s daughter lit 100 candles, Leslie’s son acted as the lookout and location tracker and Chip’s son rearranged the furniture to set the stage. Blindfolded, Leslie was guided to the family room where the song “At Last” played. The four closest people in her life read stanzas from Chip's poem. After the song, she removed her blindfold to find Chip on one knee, presenting her with a McCarty pottery ring holder and a ring.
The Magic of Venice
With its rich history, winding canals, and stunning architecture, Venice is an idyllic setting for a Venice Luxury elopement. Known as the "City of Canals," Venice offers a romantic atmosphere. The city’s labyrinthine streets and tranquil canals create a sense of timelessness, making it a perfect place for couples to start their new journey together.
However, due to its popularity, Venice can become crowded, especially during the peak tourist months of July and August. The influx of visitors during these months can strain the city’s infrastructure and detract from its charm. Additionally, the summer heat can be quite intense. To truly experience the beauty and romance of Venice, consider planning your luxury Venice elopement in the spring or autumn. These seasons offer milder weather and fewer tourists, allowing you to enjoy the city’s splendor more fully.
The Elopement Day
Chip and Leslie’s elopement was a testament to their love and commitment. With just four guests, the ceremony was intimate and personal. Chip wore a traditional black tuxedo, while Leslie donned a stunning white satin dress from a local dress shop in Tupelo, MS. They chose local artists to hand-make their invitations and wedding reception menus, adding a touch of Venetian artistry to their special day.
A Day to Remember
Reflecting on their elopement, Leslie shares, “We hired local artists to hand-make our invitations and wedding reception menus. It was the most amazing day! We will always remember it and talk of it often – how lucky we are to experience this perfect day!”
Advice for Future Brides
Leslie advises future brides to find a planner who can see your vision and execute it flawlessly. “Rochelle could see our vision and execute it exactly as we had dreamed. The pictures captured our day. I tear up as I remember the day and the feelings I had each time I look at our pictures. I wouldn’t have it any other way to have a luxury elopement in Venice!”
